12:11 pm - Sure Fire Pelican Entertainment
Last Friday night, I was joined by Andris and
5seconddelay at Amplifer for ex-Perth band Mach Pelican's last show. I'm not sure the official reason why they're breaking up after 10 or so years, but I think it has to do with visas and one of the band members is going back to Japan.
Anyway, we had a great night, the line up (The Homicides, Rocking Hendy, The Sure Fire Midnights) was damm good too. I was particularly impressed with Rocking Hendy, I'll definitely see them again. The Sure Fire Midnights had two new members playing, though I think they're only temporarily. I like them as an all girl band better *dreams and drools*
During the night I also run into
antzpantz and
mongoloid_dave. For once Anthony wasn't taking photos :P Neither I nor Andris was sure it was actually Dave standing next to us, but he went up to him and we had a chat to him and his girlfriend. We probably would have talked longer if it wasn't so noisy - it was hard for all of us to hear what the others were saying.
The Mach Pelican set was very "old school", typical punk in that there were crowd surfers and a bit mosh pit type setup going. I didn't get so many photos during their set because I was worried about getting my camera damaged. I did get some of the Midnights though - some good, some not so good. I think I need to work more on focusing on the subjects (some photos were blured overall, some were "sharp" in the wrong areas). Perhaps using a smaller F-stop might help? I also need to look at timing (shutter speed) as there is some motion blur in the photos. I set the camera to 1/30th sec - maybe that's too long? I did get one shot which I'm very happy with though.
Enough rambling...click the link below for the photos...

I wanted to go to the gig but i didn't have anyone to go with so in the end i didn't go. Pooh! Sounds like it was good though.
Great pics too :)
I'm going to Cinema Prague this saturday, and i know Leo is going to that.
Clair from the band took a look at them and said she wanted to use a couple of them on their MySpace page which I thought was pretty cool :-)
